Fitted into the low-reflection, shock-resistant base, the focusable aplanatic lens system meets the highest optical standards. The optics are made from silicate glass, which is highly scratch-resistant, offers very high resolution (extremely sharp), and produces an exceptionally high-contrast image. Schweizer uses UV-absorbent optical crown glass (refractive index n = 1.52), the same as used in prescription lenses.
